West Coast Trail

The West Coast Trail starts in Port Renfrew and runs North for 77km towards Bamfield along Vancouver Island’s scenic West Coast. The trail was originally built as a life saving trail, connecting Lighthouses, when the waters off the west coast of Vancouver Island were know as “the Graveyard of the Pacific”.

The West Coast Trail is a world renowned backpacking route that travels through Pacific Rim National Park Reserve, home to Vancouver Island’s temperate rainforest.  The route winds along Vancouver Island’s rugged West Coast with cliffs, waterfalls, caves, unique rock formations and stunning beaches.

There are 6 walk-on spots each day (at both ends), or you can book a reservation in advance to hike this trail through the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve.

ONLY TRANSPORTATION FROM ONE END OF THE TRAIL TO THE OTHER IS THE BUS.
